Hey, thanks for checking out Forever Swell!
I believe in eternal life. I believe our relationships in this life are far too deep and powerful to simply end at death. With that belief, I have good reason to be forever swell!
I recently moved across the great United States of America, from Pennsylvania to California. I went from living with my parents to living with my grandparents. It’s always been a dream of mine to live in California. After experiencing corruption and many evils in the corporate world, I saved up a little money and journeyed across the country.
I’ve always been a writer. I write songs, poems, essays, blog posts, I’ve even written for magazines and newspapers. I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted to do when I moved out to California (other than play music and go surfing). In the mornings and on car rides, my grandparents listen to talk radio. In the evenings they watch talk television. All of the talk going on got me interested in sharing some of my own ideas.
I have ideas on politics, music, marketing, media…all that stuff, but I don’t ever stay interested in those things because they don’t really matter to me. What really matters is my faith. So that seemed to be the perfect thing to blog about!
One thing you will notice, I do not preach! I believe preaching is the worst way to spread the good news. I share my ideas and open them up for discussion, and I believe everybody receives an invite to the kingdom of God. Some people accept the invite right away, some people don’t. But life is a journey, and sometimes it takes the entire journey to find our way.
Why do I create? Because I have to. It’s just who I am. It keeps me. I read a book about poetry once and I tagged a single page through the entire book. I tagged that page because it told why good art is such a necessity. It is so because it shows everything in a beautiful light. The idea of art is beauty. When a song is written about a broken heart, broken heartedness can be a beautiful thing. When the portuguese invented the guitar, they were being heavily persecuted. They had to hide in caves from the enemy. In such dire circumstances, they would sing out, “Ole!” Ole means God. They would play their guitars and scream out to God. They turned their pain into the beautiful music we now know as classical guitar.
INTERESTING FACT TIME
I eat a donut every day. If I live to be 122, people will ask me how I did it, and I’ll be able to say, “Well, I’m not sure, but I ate a donut every day. Maybe that was it.”
I play pop punk on guitar and sing.
One time I did a parody of a Katy Perry song on YouTube, and she posted it on her Facebook page. I ended up with about 35,000 views. Very lame, kinda cool though.
